I know I said I would bring you the information on the Federal programs, but …. the Federal site doesn’t seem to be working at the moment. So…..

I decided to give you another example of how states will provide major assistance in the purchase of soft body armor and tactical vests for their police forces. This one is from North Carolina…

In North Carolina, there is a Saftey Grant and Soft Body Armor Grant Program. The way to have access to it is to participate in the North Carolina League of Municipalities Risk Management Services worker’s compensation program. As a participant, the worker’s compensation program will reimburse 50% of the cost of soft body armor, up to a total cost of $250 per vest. So in reality, that really means, for a quality Level IIIA Ballistic, Level II Knife - Spike protection soft body armor, you can realize a 20- 30% savings.

These grants are available on an ongoing basis, and can be applied for at any time of the year.
